Game of Thrones has always been known as the show which has had way too much murder, and way too much sex. The show has rattled a few cages by bringing nudity to the screen in a quantity that wasn’t really prominent for mainstream television. Some critics have even said that the show uses nudity to distract the fans from a character speaking about something important. Over the years, we have seen the nudity be quite prominent, but Season 7 didn’t have the same amount of it. A new report now says that the season had a lesser amount of nudity than any Game of Thrones season before. Read on!
A new report published by Broadly talked about a women’s representation in Game of Thrones, and one of the sections in the study was about the nudity over the years, broken down season by season. Check out the inforgraphic, below :
Here’s how the numbers break down :
Season 1: 33 naked people (88% women, 12% men)
Season 2: 16 naked people (100% women, 0% men)
Season 3: 19 naked people (79%, 21% men)
Season 4: 23 naked people (91% women, 9% men)
Season 5: 28 naked people (68% women, 32% men)
Season 6: 22 naked people (91% women, 9% men)
Season 7: Six naked people (50%, 50% men)
Here’s what happened : Season 7 had a faster pace, and had to follow a no bullshit policy. There wasn’t much time to divert our attention, so only the necessary nudity made it onscreen. Also, notice how the nudity has a 50-50 split by gender this year. There is a lot of data and opinions in the original study, so check it all out here. Some of it just doesn’t make sense to us, though, but that’s a matter of opinion.
What do you think about this? Would you like to see more nudity in Season 8, maybe? Or would you like the show to get rid of it all for the last season? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
