Ex-Barcelona player Junior Firpo compares Leeds teammate to Game of Thrones character

The huge popularity of Game of Thrones turned it into a pop culture icon. There’s hardly anyone who doesn’t know of the fantasy series, and we find it being referenced by many famous people occasionally. From politics to sports, Game of Thrones has made its impact. Recently, Junior Firpo, an Ex-Barcelona footballer, delivered a hilarious comparison between Leeds United teammate Pascal Struijk and a famous Game of Thrones character.

Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister on the show, is a recognised Leeds supporter. However, Firpo believes he’s found another connection between the club and the HBO series.

Firpo compared 21-year-old Leeds defender Struijk to fictional character Khal Drogo from the popular TV show Game of Thrones. American actor Jason Momoa is the supposed lookalike.

Firpo is certainly getting straight into the dressing room banter after his summer transfer. He responded to Struijk on Instagram, who scored in a pre-season 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday.

It looks like 24-year-old Firpo is integrating into the Leeds group very quickly. One of the greatest strengths in the last few years at Elland Road is the togetherness of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

Humility is a virtue possessed by few. Even though Game of Thrones reached great heights, the show’s cast was always humble to their roots. Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo on the show, has to be one of the most down-to-earth celebrities among them. His family went broke after his exit in season 1, but he never lost his cool. The actor is putting a smile across millions of faces once again as the superhero Aquaman. He recently shared a story from his early Hollywood days in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

After admitting most of his stories from that period of his life are not ones he could share on television, Momoa landed on an anecdote involving Northern Irish actor, Liam Neeson.

“I went to my first nice restaurant and I saw Liam Neeson,” Momoa recalled. “And fangirled out. I had not met anyone famous yet. I watched Rob Roy growing up, and I was really excited. And I just kind of stared at him and I would just smile. I creeped him out. He got up, left and moved to a few tables over.”

Then he recalled a similar experience about his chance meeting with Al Pacino.

“I was on Melrose [Avenue] and I look in a window, me and my buddy, and sure enough, I see Al Pacino,” he said. “And I just stopped dead in my tracks and I spent the next half-hour just walking in front of the window — to the point where he is just looking at us — and Al Pacino just flips us off and starts laughing. I felt really silly, but I get starstruck really easily.”

It has been nearly a decade since the last Game of Thrones novel was written. Fans have been waiting for the next book anxiously, as there are still no clear clues when George R. R. Martin plans to complete it. Even other veteran writers such as Stephen King are worried if Martin will ever complete the series. Despite all the anguish, Martin repeatedly reassures his fans that he is working on the highly awaited book, and he plans to finish it by early 2022 and it is one of his top priorities.

There have been many theories about why he hasn’t completed the novel yet, and we bring to one such hilarious theory. It was presented by the YouTube channel The Warp Zone, which is famous for making little skits over pop culture controversies. You can enjoy the clip right below!

The video shows one of the actors dressed as George R. R. Martin, walking back home. When he gets home, he is greeted by an old friend… Who is none other than the King of Hell, Lucifer. During their fun interaction, it is revealed Martin achieved great success due to his deal with the devil, and he hasn’t completed Winds of Winter to use a clever loophole to prevent his impending doom.

What do you think must be the reason why George R. R. Martin hasn’t completed the book? Talk to us in the comments below!
