Critics praise Rhaenys Targaryen as early reviews of House of the Dragon Episode 9 start rolling out
If House of the Dragon follows in its predecessor, Game of Thrones‘ footsteps, then the show’s penultimate episode, “The Green Council,” will be the best and most action-packed of the entire season. The preview offered a glimpse into the political games that are about to go down. The Dowager Queen’s small council, excluding Lord Beesbury, is planning to usurp the throne from the heir, Rhaenyra. The focus seems to be on Rhaenys, though, who’s likely going to steal the show in the episode. Here’s what the critics have said so far.

#HouseOfTheDragonHBO episode 9 is a great penultimate episode that really does start "The Dance of the Dragons". I really hope Rhaenys gets some new fans, because she's badass in this episode. Also the tension in this episode is peak! #HouseOfTheDragon pic.twitter.com/EQ3hzSpZ0E

Andre Birchman writes, “House Of The Dragon episode 9 is a great penultimate episode that really does start “The Dance Of The Dragons.” I really hope Rhaenys gets some new fans because she’s badass in this episode, also the tension in this episode is peak!” Another reviewer, Khalil Hanoun, says the episode was gorgeous and that “The Queen has gone green.”
He also praised Ramin Djawadi, the composer of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. This might mean that the Iranian-German composer has included a new musical piece in the episode. Hanoun advises the audience to save their breath, “save plenty of your breath because you’ll need it for[the] ninth [episode] and definitely [the] ten[the episode].”
Khalil also writes that there is “coup after coup after coup.” And this has now made it even harder for us to stay calm. From what the reviewers have said, there will be a lot of backstabbing and tons of tension as the story moves toward the war.
The review for #HouseOfTheDragon episode 9 might be the easiest one to write. Who knew?
