A dragon emerging from the floorboard is quite difficult to forget, as the time Rhaenys Targaryen let Meleys go in the Dragonpit at the conclusion of House of the Dragon Episode 9, “The Green Council.” It’s difficult to top good ol’ dragon action, even if the sequence was a true standout in a presentation full of memorable, dramatic set pieces. But she spares the Greens, and many fans still blame her to this day.

Daemon reminds Rhaenys about her mistake that killed Lucerys

The release date for House of the Dragon Season 2 is fast approaching. Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen, recently visited CBS Mornings for an interview where a never-before-seen clip from Season 2 was revealed. The clip shows Daemon blaming Rhaenys, saying: “If you had acted when you had the chance, Aegon’s line would be extinguished and Luke would be alive”.

Why Rhaenys didn’t kill the Greens in Episode 9

Many fans questioned why Princess Rhaenys didn’t slay her foes earlier when she and her dragon, Meleys, escaped imprisonment and gave the Greens the death stare before taking off for Rhaenyra. The penultimate episode of House of The Dragon, which concluded the first season, ultimately provided an explanation for Rhaenys’ decision not to murder the Greens. “A war is coming, but it is not mine to fight,” she declares to Rhaenyra upon arriving at Dragonstone.
