Cargyllbowl sees the Kingsguard twins duel to death in House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2

The second episode of House of the Dragon Season 2 is here. The tale of revenge has further progressed as the war is now being fought on two fronts – on battlefields and using shady assassins. Last episode we saw Daemon staying true to his word of “taking a son for a son“. However, the Greens wouldn’t let go without retribution, the Cargyllbowl is the first of many.

Brothers clash – Arryk vs Erryk Cargyll

Everyone is on edge as the set pieces are moving towards a massive civil war. The death of Prince Jaehaerys has pushed the Greens to take drastic measures. Criston Cole tries to bring a quick end to the war to come by sending Arryk Cargyll to Dragonstone to kill Rhaenyra and end the war before it happens. Arryk reluctantly agrees.

Arryk gets into the castle of Dragonstone under a fisherman’s guise, and changes to his Kingsguard attire so that everyone confuses him for Erryk. However, much to his luck, as he charges at Rhaenyra in her chambers, he is confronted by none other than Erryk. And the brothers fight to the death, puzzled onlookers watching haplessly as they can’t figure out which one is Erryk and which one is Arryk. After killing the infiltrator Arryk, Ser Erryk falls onto his sword to end his life over having killed his brother.

In Fire & Blood, there are several different perspectives on the Cargyllbowl. While some suggest that the fight lasted for an hour, others said it was a matter of minutes. But all have one thing in common, Arryk was sent by Criston Cole to infiltrate Dragonstone and kill either Rhaenyra or one of her children, but is met by Erryk who understands why his brother is there. The aftermath also has different accounts. Some say they died on the spot, others say Erryk died a few days later of pain and heartbreak.
