Game of Thrones had quite a run with Season 6, with way too many important events, as well as deaths happening. Now, we all know what our favorite moments and favorite episodes from the season were. The ninth episode, “Battle of the Bastards”, was our personal favorite, and apparently of a lot of other people, too! We had previously seen this episode getting nominated for an ASC award for Cinematography, and now it has been nominated for an ACE Eddie Award for editing!
The American Cinema Editors (ACE) just announced the nominations for the 67th edition of the ACE Eddie Awards, which honor outstanding editing in TV and film. “Battle of the Bastards” has been nominated in the Best Edited One-Hour Series – Non-Commercialcategory, which is one of the 10 categories for these awards. According to a report by Deadline, The full list of nominations for this category, are as follows :
The Crown: “Assassins” (Yan Miles, ACE)
Game of Thrones: “Battle of the Bastards” (Tim Porter, ACE)
Stranger Things: “Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers” (Dean Zimmerman)
Stranger Things: “Chapter Seven: The Bathtub” (Kevin D. Ross)
Westworld: “The Original” (Stephen Semel, ACE & Marc Jozefowicz)
It’s clear from the list that Netflix and HBO are solely dominating this category. This category has a counterpart titled Best Edited One-Hour Series – Commercial, which includes other biggies like Better Call Saul, shows which air on channels running commercials.
Game of Thrones has previously been nominated for the Eddies four times, and never won, despite having two nominations at once from its Season 5 run. “Battle of the Bastards”, however, might just finally get Game of Thrones the Eddie win that has evaded it for so long.
The episode, overall, was really well made. May it be the script, the acting, the cinematography or the editing, and not to forget, music. So, we have a pretty good feeling about this episode, especially when it comes to awards. Either way, we will find out if our inkling is accurate, when the ACE Eddie Awards ceremony is held, scheduled for January 27.
What do you think? Will “Battle of the Bastards” finally fetch that ACE Eddie for Game of Thrones? Talk to us in the comments, below!
