Iconic Game of Thrones filming location, The Dark Hedges damaged by Storm Doris
Game of Thrones has had a lot of beautiful, beautiful filming locations over the years, and looking at leaked pictures of Season 7 filming, we’re convinced that there is a lot more of those coming our way.The Dark Hedges in County Antrim, in Northern Island, one of the most beautiful locations used in Game of Thrones, and had been voted as one of the most beautiful places in the world, recently, have now sadly been damaged by Storm Doris.
The Dark Hedges have existed since the 18th century, when they were planted by the Stuart family which owns the well known Gracehill House, the Georgian mansion. They first appeared in Game of Thrones in Season 2, where they depicted the King’s Road. It has been said before that the road might get closed down altogether, to protect the Hedges from the potential damage it was facing because of the increasing number of visitors it has been having, especially since its stint on Game of Thrones, which made them even more popular than they were before. However, nature had its way, and some of the trees have now suffered damage from Storm Doris, according to a report byBelfast Live. The storm has been going rough, and some of the trees succumbed to the heavy winds.

This isn’t the first time a storm has damaged the trees. They have taken similar damage from Storm Gertrude before. Only 90 trees were intact, as of last year, and now the count has gone even lower.
While there exists a Dark Hedges Preservation Trust, but the trees have been there for quite a while now, and they are already living past their lifespan, so if you want to check the Hedges out, now might be a good time to take a trip there.
