Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon will be covering the events from the time when Targaryens were flourishing in Westeros, and so were their dragons, about 200 years prior to the timeline of the original show. A story of this proportion is definitely going to take more than one season to cover, however even then a number of scenes had to be omitted for the sake of a better viewing experience.

House of The Dragon team shares a new behind-the-scenes snap

A new BTS picture shared by House of The Dragon’s official Instagram handle shows young Rhaenyra, played by Milly Alcock, holding a piece of parchment out in the light. The photo was captioned: “Secrets hiding in the Red Keep.”

What is the significance of the paper young Rhaenyra is holding?

It is the same piece of paper that Daemon slips into Rhaenyra’s chamber along with some clothes. The parchment contains the map of a secret passageway out of her room into the Flea bottom where she eventually meets up with Daemon. That night, Rhaenyra takes a pretty big step towards her freedom, even though the choices she makes are not all right.

When will House of The Dragon return?

The filming of House of The Dragon season 2 is currently in pre-production, with the casting currently in progress. HBO chief Casey Bloys has confirmed in an indirect way that House of The Dragon won’t be coming back before the summer of 2024.
