The first season of House of the Dragon has left fans wanting more, and the show had been renewed for a second chapter even before the season finale aired. It might be some time for the second season to finally be here, as it takes a lot of hard work, planning, patience, coordination between various departments, and a big budget. HBO chief Casey Bloys had confirmed that Season 2 won’t be airing before 2023, and it is made quite evident from the filming schedule that has come to light recently.

According to a report by Midgard Times, HBO will begin filming the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon on April 17 this year in Cáceres, Spain, and then move to the Leavesden Studio, Warner Bros’ base of operations in the UK. This is in contrast to the information we had earlier, that filming was to begin in March at the Leavesden first and then to Spain.

Principal photography will take place for nine months and wrap up in December 2023. It is not clear yet as to why the schedule was suddenly changed, but it would certainly mean we will have to wait a bit more for the second season to finally arrive on our TV screens.
