“The Dragon and the Wolf” becomes the most watched Game of Thrones episode ever
Game of Thrones season 7 has given us far too much to talk about and it doesn’t look like that’s going to stop anytime soon, especially after the finale episode which left us all shocked to our cores. With such an amazing season, expecting the finale to be mind-blowing is no far fetched thought. You weren’t the only one thinking of that, because a few million others were also on the same track.
Turns out, in stride of breaking viewership records this season, Game of Thrones season 7 finale has become the most watched episode of the series ever. EW reports that the finale episode titled “The Dragon and the Wolf” gathered up to 12.1 million live viewers.
Earlier it was the season premiere “Dragonstone” which broke viewership records. This was taken over by episode 4 “The Spoils of War”, which was then taken over by “Eastwatch”. With 12.1 million live viewers, the finale episode saw an increase of 13 percent in views.
Despite HBO’s recent security breaches and the leaks of two episodes, the live viewership records only kept going up, which is saying something about the popularity of Game of Thrones. Given how great this season has been, we can only wonder how many more viewers the epic fantasy show is going to gather after in the final season.
