Here’s how Ewan Mitchell (Aemond) improvised his stare off contest with Matt Smith’s Daemon in House of the Dragon Season 1
House of the Dragon gained new viewers over time throughout its debut season. The first glimpse of the forthcoming season is already something that many people are eagerly anticipating. One of the show’s breakout stars, Ewan Mitchell, has amassed a sizable fan base. He will play a greater part in Season 2 while riding the largest dragon in House of the Dragon as Aemond Targaryen.
Ewan Mitchell avoided eye contact with Matt Smith
Though Mitchell is still at an early stage in his career, he is getting recognition for his role far and wide. He is a method actor who is completely focused on his role even after the camera stops rolling. Mitchell told The Face, “I did something on Dragon that was the first choice I made on my first day. I said to Ryan: ‘I’ve got this idea of avoiding Matt Smith and [even] avoiding eye contact.’”
Ewan Mitchell’s method acting to prepare for the stare-off contest
Mitchell knew he had to be at his best to bring out the best in his stare-off contest in Season 1. He explained, “Because there’s this moment in episode eight where we have that intense stare-down. I thought there was something in experimenting and saving that moment for then. Aemond idolizes Daemon, and this is the first time that he makes any sort of contact with him. Their family tree is actually a circle!”
“I just wanted to keep that separation, so that I never saw Matt and I only ever saw Daemon”, he declared.
