Troy Baker explains why Pedro Pascal got rid of one of Joel’s most iconic lines
HBO is one of the leading networks in the world of television. The network has already given us some of the finest shows of all time in the form of Game of Thrones and Chernobyl, and the TV adaptation of the video game The Last of Us is the latest to join the fray. Pedro Pascal did an extraordinary job of portraying Joel on the screen, but fans still had a few complaints about his version. For example, Pascal did not use a few of Joel’s iconic lines from the game.
Why did Pedro Pascal not use some of Joel’s iconic lines from The Last of Us video game?
Troy Baker, who played Joel in The Last of Us video game, recently explained to RadioTimes why he loves Pedro Pascal’s version so much. He said, “All I ever wanted was for someone to show me something new about Joel. What did I miss? That’s the disappointment that would have come, if someone had just done what I did. What Pedro does is he loves Joel enough to be different. That’s what I respect most about him.”
Which iconic Joel Miller line was missing from the show?
Baker went on to explain, “A perfect example is the classic line of, ‘You’re treading on mighty thin ice.’ Pedro was like, ‘It just doesn’t feel right for me to say that. It feels forced.’ The confidence to be able to say that and the confidence on [the creators’ part to change it]. That’s what I love.”
How many seasons will The Last of Us Part II be stretched into?
In a recent interview with GQ magazine, showrunner Neil Druckmann confirmed Part II will be stretched over multiple seasons. He said, “It’s more than one season.”
Craig Mazin assured it as well, “You have noted correctly that we will not say how many. But more than one is factually correct.”
