Paddy Considine “burst into tears” as he watched his last scene
Paddy Considine was nothing less than extraordinary in his portrayal of King Viserys Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Anyone who watched season one of the show felt the pain and emotion of the King on his deathbed through the screen. His performance moved many fans to tears, and Paddy shares that he also burst into tears.
On The Adam Buxton Podcast, the actor shared that he still has not watched his last episode of the season, episode 8. He shares, “years ago, I’d watched my dad die of cancer, and he just went downhill rapidly from being diagnosed to being on death’s door. You know, he became skeletal so rapidly.” Considine says that although he hasn’t watched most of the episode, his wife and daughter had. “My wife said, ‘Just watch the end.”
“So, when [my wife] showed me that end thing and my face came up, I just burst into tears because I looked [at] the image of my dad when he was dying, the image of him, and it was shocking. It was really, really shocking to me. I’d put so much of my mum’s characteristics into this character, Viserys, but when I saw that, I thought, ‘That’s my dad,’ and it was terrifying.'”, said Paddy Considine.
