Interview
The cast and crew of House of The Dragon take you behind-the-scenes of the royal wedding

Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is a massive storm brewing, with the Targaryens smack in the middle of it. The storyline is going through a period of compromises, the quiet before the storm breaks out, that will cause havoc as soon as the tension breaks. The prequel series showed a Targaryen wedding ceremony for the first time in the Game of Thrones franchise, and even though it ended tragically, it was as grand as one can imagine.
The cast and the crew got together in a recent video clip to discuss what went behind the scenes during the events leading up to the ceremony.
Ryan Condal: Every Game of Thrones season needs its wedding that doesn’t quite go right in the end.
Milly Alcock: She knows that it is going to be a marriage of convenience. So she wants to make it as convenient for herself as possible.
Rhys Ifans: Otto doesn’t mince his words. The only outcome is death.
Miguel Sapochnik: We allude to Lady Rhea Royce all through the season. And so it felt like a good way to meet her was just before we kill her.
Ryan Condal: There is this line in the book that always fascinated me. Daemon’s wife, the Lady Rhea Royce of Runestone, fell off her horse and her skull was crushed in the fall. And I read that and I was like that’s such a weird detail to include with no context around it. So I stared at it and I was like, well, Daemon, obviously went home and murdered his wife. And we made a whole little short film about it.
Theo Nate: They [Rhaenyra and Laenor] are trynna see if they can get along, because it’s not a choice at the end of the day.
