House of the Dragon episode 5 preview sets the stage for War
House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, has been exceptional so far. All the episodes so far have had a great reception by the critics and the fans. After the latest release, episode 4, we are on the edge of our seats for the next episode as tensions build. The preview released for episode 5 shows more unrest and drama as we come closer to having to choose sides between Rhaenyra and Aegon II.

King’s Landing is set for royal feasts and galas as we prepare for the royal wedding. The heir’s marriage will see the most significant houses participate in the celebration. Judging by the preview, the union is not as well received as the King thought it would be. The soon-to-be groom, Laenor Velaryon, is pushed headfirst into a table as fights break out all around the hall. In a tiny glimpse, we also see Ser Criston Cole presenting his sword, and possibly his loyalty, to the Queen, Alicent Hightower.
We also see Lannisters arriving at the celebration but they don’t look too happy about Rhaenyra’s marriage. As the King’s health declines, Rhaenys and Corlys worry about the Valyrian houses. On the other hand, we see Otto Hightower commanding an already distraught Alicent to “prepare Aegon to rule.” It seems like we may finally see King Viserys drop dead in this episode.
We can expect to see houses, and people choosing sides. The two sides have already begun scheming as they know Rhaenyra’s succession is not welcome by most. What comes next won’t be pleasant, but it will undoubtedly pack the classic Game of Thrones flavor of dragons, battles, and deceit.

It’s way too soon for Viserys to die; he doesn’t pass away for at least 10 more years, as I recall from the book Fire and Blood.

Yeah but the show has been doing time jumps of years at a time. With the older actresses for Rhaenyra and Alicent set to appear soon, which signals a definitive time jump, Viserys might just die in this episode. Let’s see what happens!
