Maisie Williams says filming Game of Thrones was not traumatic
Game of Thrones had several characters who started off as little kids and later blossomed into the bold personas we know and love so much. The child actors who were part of the show also grew up with it as the seasons progressed, and many of them have successful careers now. However, the shoot itself was quite stressful, even for adults, owing to the overwhelming pressure of presenting the best on the screen. For instance, actress Sophie Turner has forecasted that her mental traumas while filming Game of Thrones might resurface at a later age. However, her best friend and on-screen sister Maisie Williams has quite a different view.
In a recent interview with Variety, Williams talked about a number of topics including her experience filming Game of Thrones. On being asked if she ever experienced any kind of trauma like Turner, she said, “I didn’t find the scenes that I shot on “Game of Thrones,” and the nature of the violence and the descent into obsession over this list of names that she wants to kill — I didn’t necessarily find that traumatic to do. I think I just found, you know, growing — well, I’m not even gonna say that. I didn’t find those scenes traumatic to do.”
Williams expressed her free-spirited Arya in the interview, and was completely professional about it. What do you think of her statement? Talk to us in the comments below!
