Maps from the Game of Thrones and other fantasy works go on display at the Huntington Art Museum in California

There are too many locations and characters on Game of Thrones to count, and all of them have detailed descriptions behind them. It’s hard to remember everything, but if you’re as dedicated a fan, you’d end up making an interactive map that shows every detail of the locations of Game of Thrones, be it finding out how close the towns of Essos are or how much area Westeros can cover. But for those who don’t want to get into the hassle of having to draw it out themselves, the Huntington Art Museum in California has just made it easier for you.
Museumgoers can now explore maps from their favorite novels at the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California. “Mapping Fiction,” a new exhibition on display through May 22, unites about 70 works from the museum’s literary collections. The collection includes maps from the likes of Game of Thrones, The Lord of The Rings, Ulysses, Treasure Island and many more.

Other highlights include early editions of Miguel de Cervantes’ The Ingenious Gentleman of Don Quixote of La Mancha and Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days, displayed alongside a board game inspired by Nellie Bly, a famous journalist who traveled across the globe in 72 days using Verne’s novel as inspiration, per Artnet News. A collection of unpublished hand-drawn diagrams by Butler are also on view.
