A scientifically accurate tectonic map of the world of 'Game of Thrones' created by scientists at the University of Sydney

Game of Thrones may have been set in the fictional world of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, it was heavily inspired by medieval history and real-life human interactions. The tremendous success of the show has forced scientists all over the world to conduct various researches related to various aspects of the show. Recently, a group of four scientists at the University of SydneyYouseph Ibrahim, Cian Clinton-Gray, Irene Koutsoumbis, and Sabin Zahirovic — joined forces to breathe reality into fiction – by making a scientifically accurate tectonic map of the world of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels.

A tectonic map portrays the architecture of the outer layer of the Earth. Since the Martinverse is purely fictional, there was no way of telling how the geological profile of Westeros or other lands in his stories looked like, until now.

The creators described how they came up with their video in The Conversation. “In this project, we worked with ‘evidence’ collected by us and others from the Game of Thrones fictional world,” they write. “This included evidence of past volcanism and mountain building, which are often the smoking gun for tectonic plate convergence and collision.”

In the case of the Games of Thrones world, we’ve assumed the continents of Westeros and Essos broke apart 25 million years ago to open the Narrow Sea. We mapped this occurring much like the unzipping of the African continent along the East African Rift Valley at a similar time.”

Maybe this little info will jog up Martin’s mind and he’ll be inspired to finish Winds of Winter at a faster pace. Let’s hope it really does. Feel free to leave a comment below!

Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin is one of the most accomplished writers of recent times. The success of the TV adaptation of his novels increased his number of readers exponentially. However, for nearly a decade, he hasn’t been able to write the next book in the novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, known as the ‘Winds of Winter‘. Game of Thrones TV show has already ended, and he’s on his way to produce an animated TV short film with Vincent D’Onofrio.

George R.R. Martin is producing an animated short film called “Night of the Cooters.” Vincent D’Onofrio will direct and star as the voice of a sheriff in the town of Pachuco, Texas, which becomes the site of a Martian invasion. It’s an adaptation of a 1987 science fiction novel by Howard Waldrop.

Martin told Deadline, “Night of the Cooters is a short story, and our version is going to be a short film. I’d guess it will come in somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes, shot with a combination of live-action and state-of-the-art animation. If you loved the story, we think you will love our movie.”

Game of Thrones wrapped up filming about two years ago, and the cast and crew have moved on to newer projects. The showrunners, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, are currently busy with their new Netflix sci-fi series Three-Body Problem. And it seems they’ve already begun casting for the show, the first one seems to be actress Eiza Gonzalez.

Eiza Gonzalez is in negotiations to join the cast of the Netflix TV adaptation of the novel Three-Body Problem, with Game of Thrones co-creators Benioff and Weiss, as reported by Deadline. Netflix hasn’t made an official comment so far, but it seems like the show is moving forward after the tremendous blow the production faced a few months back.

Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with Alexander Woo are working together to adapt Liu Cixin’s bestseller Three-Body Problem for Netflix. The series will be covering all three books of the trilogy, namely, “The Three-Body Problem,” “The Dark Forest,” and “Death’s End.” The story revolves around the idea of humanity’s first contact with aliens. Netflix struck a deal with Yoozoo group for the rights to make an English adaptation of the trilogy.

Television giant HBO is planning to play a huge gamble for its content strategy in 2022. HBO Max leaders are looking ahead to 2022 when the service will not have many crowd attracting titles to help sign up new paying customers. Instead, they plan to encourage existing subscribers to sample original series content, as reported by Variety.

There’s been a great interplay between those titles and the day-and-date films,” said Andy Forssell, executive vice president and general manager of HBO Max. “A huge percentage of the ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ audience watched ‘The Flight Attendant.’ That set the tone for the year. We’ve learned a lot about how those (film) release schedules and episodic premieres can work together.”

For HBO Max, that means the original content from HBO and HBO Max will have to deal with more crowd traffic. Forssell assures that they are up to the task. For starters, one of the series on HBO’s 2022 programming schedule is House of the Dragon, the much-anticipated prequel to Game of Thrones, and a big investment in the DC Comics property Peacemaker, a spinoff of the film The Suicide Squad.
