Game Of Thrones' The Long Night prequel has been cancelled by HBO!
We have some shocking news for Game Of Thrones fans as The Hollywood Reporter has shared some sad news about the Game Of Thrones prequel which was referred to as The Long Night by George R. R. Martin and fans. The latest report says that the much-awaited Game Of Thrones prequel has been cancelled by HBO.
The prequel was set thousands of years before the events in the Game Of Thrones series happened and was going to show the rise of the White Walkers. The prequel by showrunner Jane Goldman, which had some big names like Naomi Watts and Miranda Richardson had already filmed the pilot episode and was awaiting the green signal from HBO. This shocking news comes just weeks after it was reported that a second Game Of Thrones prequel about the Targaryens was close to getting a pilot. The second prequel being developed by Ryan Condol with George R. R. Martin and is based on GRRM’s book, Fire & Blood.
So far HBO hasn’t given any explanation regarding why they cancelled the prequel by Jane Goldman but we will surely get some updates about it in the coming days. THR mentions that Goldman has already shared the news with the cast. The fact that HBO was working on a second prequel must mean that they weren’t happy with the way the first prequel was moving ahead but at this time we can just speculate. Just to get an idea about what we are going to miss, here’s the synopsis of the first pilot:
“Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.”And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”
