The Last of Us Season 2 auditions on hold due to the writers’ strike
HBO’s blockbuster hit The Last of Us is already in the pre-production phase of Season 2. No one can deny the fact that the show has exceeded a lot of expectations, and HBO’s one of the most expensive shows to have been ever made is certainly paid its worth. However, fans looking forward to Season 2 might have to wait a bit longer, as the production is on hold due to the writers’ strike.
The WGA strike halted auditions for a scene straight from The Last of Us video game
According to a report by Variety, casting for the second season had been underway until earlier this week when it was put on hold due to the Writers Guild strike. Multiple sources stated that the casting team asked actors to read dialogues taken directly from “The Last of Us Part II,” the video game on which the second season will be based, due to the fact that there are no scripts for Season 2 at the time.
The Last of Us co-showrunner has joined the WGA strike
Co-showrunner Craig Mazin, in solidarity with the writers, was recently seen on the picket line with his fellow Writers Guild of America (WGA) members. Co-showrunner Neil Druckmann has also stopped all work on the second season, signaling his support for the cause. Currently, no work is being done on Season 2 of The Last of Us.
The Last of Us showrunners already have plans for Season 3
Druckmann further said in a recent interview, “Because we’re making the show, we know Left Behind, we know Last of Us Part II, so there are things, like we could have Marlene talk about Riley early on, because we have a better understanding of who Riley is, because Left Behind has already come out. We know where a lot of Season 2 and 3 will go, so we could start laying things in earlier.”
