The first ever Game of Thrones official fan convention gets postponed amidst Omicron surge
The world is under a lot of duress currently under the newest wave of COVID-19’s Omicron variant threat. All the countries are fighting hard to counter the recent surge in the number of infected patients, and even though scientists are working day and night researching a cure, this nightmare doesn’t seem to end. This has affected the schedule of various events that were dated to be held this year, which are getting postponed already, one of them being the first ever official Game of Thrones fan convention.
According to the official fan convention website, the event has been delayed indefinitely until further notice. A new date and venue have yet to be announced, and fans who have already bought the tickets have been contacted about the next procedure.
The Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention was supposed to be held this year, and scheduled to take place at the Rio Hotel & Suites Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev. from Feb. 18-20, 2022. The three-day event celebrating the highly popular HBO drama would have featured special guests, namely Alfie Allen (“Theon Greyjoy”), Jack Gleeson (“Joffrey Baratheon”), Kristofer Hivju (“Tormund Giantsbane”), Kristian Nairn (“Hodor”), Daniel Portman (“Podrick Payne”), Gemma Whelan (“Yara Greyjoy”), and Isaac Hempstead Wright (“Bran Stark”).
Hopefully, the recent pandemic scare will fade away soon and we will get a new date for the fan convention. Talk to us in the comments below!
