Helaena Targaryen played by Phia Saban is a character from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood who is also depicted in HBO’s House of the Dragon. She is the daughter of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. She is known for her sweet and gentle nature, standing in contrast to the more volatile members of her family. Ryan Condal comments on Helaena’s screen time

Fans can look forward to spending much more time with Phia Saban’s character, Helaena, according to Ryan Condal. We get to explore her complexities and pivotal role in the unfolding drama. As the series progresses, Helaena’s presence will become increasingly significant, offering viewers a richer understanding of her character and impact on the story. This exciting development promises to add new layers to the already intense and intricate narrative of House of the Dragon. Ryan Condal got fans very excited when he quoted this in a recent interview:

“I think Helaena is regarded as a bit odd by those around her. And I think some people do pay a bit of closer attention to her and that… you know that her story is developing. We actually do spend a lot of time with Helaena who is played wonderfully by Phia Saban in the story. And we do get a lot more time with her in season 2.”

So far, season 1 has followed the book. We see this when Rhaenyra asks King Viserys to marry Helaena to her son, Jacerys. Considering that Halaena marries her brother, Prince Aegon II Targaryen in the book, we can be sure to see more of Helaena and her dragon Dreamfyre on the show. Her character is marked by her prophetic dreams, which adds a mystical element to her otherwise tragic storyline, particularly during the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
