Spy movies are a mind-bending genre of films that involve a lot of puzzle-solving and action. Movies like James Bond and Mission Impossible have always tickled human imagination about a spy’s life. Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden will now be seen going undercover as a spy in Amazon’s upcoming thriller, The Citadel.

The Citadel is set to become one of the costliest shows Amazon has ever made, rivaling the likes of The Lord of The Rings: Rings of Power. According to Business Insider, the production cost ballooned from an estimated $165 million for ten 30-minute episodes to $300 million for six, though a source familiar with company thinking said the total was close to $200 million.

The reason behind the excessive spending has been linked partly to pandemic-related travel restrictions, and creative clashes that led to the firing of writer Josh Appelbaum and the exit of a few others. The Citadel wrapped filming in June 2022 with Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra as its lead. The Russo Brothers are the creators of the Amazon Prime Video series.

The Citadel will also have local language spinoffs being produced in places like India and Italy. Do you think Amazon’s upcoming spy thriller will be a success? Tell us in the comments below!
