One of the more complex aspects of House of the Dragon season 2 is the deteriorating relationship between Daemon and Rhaenyra. Following an intense build-up in season 1, the pair united, defying all conventions. Yet, maintaining the love and affection in their relationship has proven to be a challenge, unlike any they have encountered on the battlefield.

Daemon reunites with Rhaenyra

Daemon has gone through a radical transition following his visions at Harrenhal. After coming to terms with his feelings, he realizes he doesn’t actually want the crown. He, along with the knights of Riverlands, bent the knee to Rhaenyra, accepting her as the sovereign queen of the seven kingdoms.

The Riverlords bent the knee where Rhaenys was rejected

In an interesting turn of events, Daemon and the Riverlords bow down to Rhaenyra, the same place where the lords of Westeros had rejected a female ruler, in Harrenhal. Princess Rhaenys lost the vote to King Viserys at the Great Council in 101 AC. Hence, Rhaenyra being accepted as the Queen was a humble tribute to the Queen Who Never Was.
