Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) to play the lead role in Star Wars TV series ‘The Mandalorian’
Pedro Pascal – who played the role of ‘The Red Viper’ – Oberyn Martell in Season 4 of Game of Thrones has become the newest face of the Star Wars TV series. He has been chosen for the Star Wars Series “The Mandalorian,” which will premiere on Disney+.
The actor had been previously rumoured for playing a role in the series and now sources have confirmed this to the Variety. The much-anticipated series has been written for television by Jon Favreau and will feature the events that took place between the fall of the Empire and the emergence of the first order.
All Star Wars fans must excitedly wait for this as the TV series will follow the story of a lone gunfighter in the outer galaxy away from the rule of the New Republic.
The name of famous directors like Dave Filoni from “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels,” Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope’s), and Deborah Chow (“Jessica Jones”) have also been linked with the series.
Disney had also announced the name of Favreau as the executive producer, along with Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is another name in the list who will be the co-executive producer.
Pascal along with starring as a much-loved character in Game of Thrones and has done fantastic roles in “Narcos” “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” “The Equalizer 2,” and “If Beale Street Could Talk.” Moreover, he has also finished filming the next movie in line in the DC Extended Universe after “Shazam” – “Wonder Woman 1984.”
The last we saw of Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones was when he had given a tough fight to the Mountain. If not for his act of provoking Gregor by asking him to confess, he would still be a major player in the series. Also we fans wouldn’t have hated the Dorne plot and the Sand Snakes so much!
Game of Thrones Season 8 is right over the horizon and new teasers have started dropping. And, we’re being given a chance to re-binge-watch the last seven seasons via HBO’s ‘#ForTheThrone’ Campaign.
