Nobody is “as insidious as Aemond in Westeros,” says actor Ewan Mitchell ahead of House of the Dragon season 2 premiere
Some actors feel like they were meant to play a specific role and bring the surrounding energy to life on screen. Ewan Mitchell is one of those actors as there could be no better actor to play Aemond Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Hence, he brings a certain sinister energy to the role that makes him stand out from the rest.
Heading into the second season of the HBO prequel, fans will see Aemond play a larger role in defending the Green faction. After the events of the season 1 finale, Aemond might be the one to blame for the civil war. However, he also seems to be the one to handle everything to defend his family.

Ewan Mitchell talks about his character in House of the Dragon season 2
In a recent interview with Total Film by Games Radar, the actor opened up about Aemond Taragryen’s personality in House of the Dragon season 2. Ewan Mitchell claimed, “I don’t think we’ve seen anyone as insidious as Aemond in Westeros. He’s going to play you like a violin, and you’re either with him or against him. You can either be on Rhaenyra’s side or you can stay in one piece.”
This figure of Aemond Targaryen also comes with a chance of receiving a Chase version of the figure, which shows a glow-in-the-dark Aemond with Sapphire Eye.
As if fans needed a more ominous tease to tune into season 2 of the show, Mitchell confirms a confident personality boost in Aemond. From a kid who couldn’t control a dragon to one who’s leading his family into war, Aemond Targaryen has come a long way. However, it seems like Mitchell’s character will be knee-deep in strategy and bloodshed just to sustain power in King’s Landing.
Consequently, does Aemond have an ulterior motive in defending his family or does he truly care? We will only have to wait and see how it all pans out for the Blacks and the Greens. House of the Dragon season 2 premieres on June 16 on HBO Max.
