The advent of 2021 brings with it new hopes, opportunities, and possibilities, and new films and TV shows. While Game of Thrones fans are most probably looking forward to the upcoming prequel House of The Dragon, there are more amazing TV shows and films coming out this year that are sure to keep you entertained. One of these films shows Game of Thrones alum Jason Momoa in a bizarre horned look, called the Slumberland.
Momoa’s Slumberland was one of the films that were showcased in the recently released Netflix’s 2022 movie preview reel. The reel includes teases from Slumberland, Knives Out 2, The Gray Man, Enola Holmes 2 amongst others. The teaser trailer provides a sneak peek at Momoa’s other-worldly looks in the upcoming Netflix adaptation.
Slumberland stars Marlow Barkley as Nema and Momoa as a nine-foot-tall creature that is half-man, half-beast named Flip. Directed by Francis Lawrence (Constantine, I Am Legend, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) from a script by David Guion and Michael Handelman, Slumberland is based on the comic book series Little Nemo in Slumberland from 1905 by Winsor McCay.
Netflix’s upcoming adaptation will follow a young girl, 11-year-old Nema, who discovers a secret map to the dreamworld of the titular Slumberland. Nema enjoys living in a lighthouse with her father, Peter, who has taught her how to sail. Sadly, following Peter’s apparent death while at sea, Nema is sent to live with her estranged uncle Philip, who is dull and nothing like her father.
Nema soon discovers a world called Slumberland in her dreams where she encounters an eccentric outlaw, Flip, who happens to be a half-man/half-monster creature and claims to have been an outlaw with Peter years ago, stealing things from other peoples’ dreams. Nema endeavors to explore Slumberland and find a way that she can wish for her father back.
