Nathalie Emmanuel defends Game of Thrones finale and slams the petition signed by fans
Game of Thrones continues to receive the support from its cast members amidst the relentless criticism of the show’s final season. From Emilia Clarke to Gemma Whelan everyone has expressed their displeasure at fans’ reactions towards the show. Now, we have a new addition to the list. Read on to find out more!
As per TV Line, Nathalie Emmanuel a.k.a. Missandei on the show has now backed the show’s ending and also defended the fate of her character on the show. Speaking about her character she said:
“I was very grateful for the strength that she had when she left. That was a performance choice for me,” she added “I was like, ‘She’s not going to be crying. She’s not going to be stereotypically scared. She’s scared, but she owns it.”
Emmanuel praised the strength of her character and said:
“This woman survived slavery. She knew that she might go to war and die. And she’s owning it like a badass bitch, And I felt like that’s what I did. I was very proud of it.”
Emmanuel, however, wasn’t exactly pleased with the way the show has been criticized from all quarters, especially by the fans. She was especially critical of the petition signed by the fans demanding the Season 8 to be made by competent writers. She said:
“Listen, I think it’s totally fine if you don’t like something. That’s perfectly acceptable. What I didn’t like was that people were signing a petition,” She explained, “You can’t ask for receipts on art. You just can’t. The art has been created for you, and you can either choose to like it or not.”
She went on to add that she was “blown away” by the show’s ending. According to her, the finale was “a hard plane to land. I don’t think people quite realize the undertaking and the amount of manpower it took to do that.”
Well, we feel the cast and crew members will continue to defend the show till eternity. It is, after all, a show that made their lives.
