Lena Headey talks about Cersei's 'f— you' moment on Game of Thrones
Lena Headey made Cersei Lannister‘s manipulative, brilliantly deceptive self come to life on Game of Thrones, and with Cersei’s gradual descent into madness in season 6, there was a lot of speculation on what’s going to happen next with the Lannister queen. Cersei, as we know, goes to any lengths when it comes to exerting her power and regaining her lost glory, no matter that it means putting every life in King’s Landing on stake, which eventually also led to the death of her remaining child, King Tommen. After Cersei conquered the Seven Kingdoms and sat on the Iron Throne in the last episode of Game of Thrones season 6, she’s appeared to be more in danger than anyone else, what with Daenerys Targaryen marching onto King’s Landing with her army, along with Cersei’s brother Tyrion.
Now that Cersei’s fate is about to be put to the ultimate test as Dany gets closer and closer to the Seven Kingdoms, Lena Headey, had some insights on what her character’s future holds according to her. During an interview with the Wrap, she revealed that it does not look good for Cersei in future, and that there is no longer anything holding her back after her children died, making her more ruthless than ever.
“I don’t think it will end well. Who knows?” she said. “The thing that gave her humanity was her kids. They’re gone now. Her father is gone. [Her brother] Tyrion is gone. There’s no one to tell her she can’t, she’s stupid, she’s just a woman. I think when Jaime looks anything other than happy, she has a ‘f— you’ moment. This will be such an interesting season for them. Where do they go? It’s so toxic now.”
Lena Headey’s predictions about Cersei do seem quite believable, given how she hasn’t got anything to stop her from doing the worst of things anymore. It remains to be seen in season 7 as to what will happen with the character.
