Henry Cavill calls Kristofer Hivju ‘brave’ for showing his ‘true’ appearance in The Witcher season 2 teaser

Game of Thrones has a long list of memorable characters, and since we know how infamous George R. R. Martin is for killing off fan favourites, some lucky ones did manage to get away with their lives at the end of the series. One of them was Jon Snow’s wildling buddy Tormund Giantsbane, played by Kristofer Hivju. It seems like Hivju’s new adventures into the wild have drastically altered his appearance, at least that’s what Henry Cavill says.
Netflix recently released The Witcher season 2 trailer, and we get a brief look at Hivju, who will play Nivellen in the show. It’s all prosthetics and CGI magic but Henry Cavill insists that this is Hivju’s true appearance.

“The amazing, the wonderful, the electric and the enigmatic Kristofer Hivju. Kristofer was extraordinarily brave for season 2 of The Witcher and decided to play his character of Nivellen with zero make-up or visual effects, as you can see above. Kristofer, we are all so proud,” Cavill wrote.
Nivellen is an important character in The Witcher lore as he appears in Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story A Grain of Truth, He is the first “monster” Geralt of Rivia encounters who isn’t really a monster. Interestingly, the character is based on the Beast in, you guessed it, Beauty and the Beast.
The Witcher Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on December 17, 2021.
