Game of Thrones is the show that normalised death on television. We have seen the show push the envelope, and television is much bolder because of it. Considering that, the final season of the show can’t be expected to be any different, and it won’t be. HBO Senior Vice President of Drama Francesca Orsi recently said that Game of Thrones Season 8 will have a lot of death, too. Read on!
Orsi recently spoke at a panel named “The Best of HBO” at the INTV conference in Israel, she spoke about Game of Thrones Season 8, and more, reports THR. Speaking of the budget for the final season, she said:
“$50 million [per season] would never fly for what we are trying to do. We are going big.”
She then spoke about the table read for the final season, and assured that the season will not disappoint the fans:
“[It] was a really powerful moment in our lives and our careers. None of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started to fall down to their deaths. By the end, the last few words on the final script, the tears just started falling down. Then there was applause that lasted 15 minutes.”
Well, we knew the stars had all cries after reading the scripts, but Valar Morghulis? Maybe a bit too literally? We’ll see. The spinoffs plans were also discussed, Orsi said that given how big a hit Game of Thrones has been, “it feels like corporate malfeasance to not continue it,” and said that HBO is planning “three, four, five spinoffs” of the show.
So looks like we’re gonna see a lot of the characters die, and honestly not many are left. What are your predictions? Who do you think will die in Game of Thrones Season 8? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
