Game of Thrones – the epic series based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy works has been ranked as the most popular on-demand show of 2018. We do not know if it’s because of the fantastic storyline, strong characters, the soundtrack or the top level CGI used in the production – but being listed as the top on-demand show, reported by USA Today doesn’t come to much surprise!
Well, we’ve been waiting the final season of the series since August 2017, which was when the seventh season aired and there wasn’t a single episode aired in 2018. Yet, still maintaining its position on the peak gives us much more insight of how dearly the fans wait for the series to air.
This is also supported by the fact that the show doesn’t let the hype and ante by teasing a lot of stuff for Season 8 especially with the merchandise it promotes during the off-season. There also are many Game of Thrones communities across the web including us who keep up all the fans with the latest news and filming updates.
According to Brynn Lev, the VP of editorial and programming at Comcast Cable,
“The fact that that show is still ranked No. 1 across the board when it wasn’t even current is pretty incredible. It shows just how large of a following that show has (and) how new people are still discovering it.”
Here are the top-ranked 20 TV shows in the on-demand list of 2018:
- Game of Thrones (HBO)
- This Is Us (NBC)
- Power (Starz)
- 9-1-1 (Fox)
- The Good Doctor (ABC)
- Shameless (Showtime)
- Westworld (HBO)
- Jersey Shore Family Vacation (MTV)
- Outlander (Starz)
- Homeland (Showtime)
- The Sopranos (HBO)
- Law & Order: SVU (NBC)
- Billions (Showtime)
- The Voice (NBC)
- Married at First Sight (Lifetime)
- The Resident (Fox)
- America’s Got Talent (NBC)
- Grey’s Anatomy (ABC)
- Keeping Up with Kardashians (E!)
- Chicago PD (NBC)
And so Game of Thrones stays on the top of the list and cheers to this fact! The final season of Game of Thrones is airing in April 2019 – we have so many hopes from it with the intense battle sequences reported to be filmed for the new season. We still have four months left and eagerly wait for the official full-length trailer to drop along with the official airing date.
