Happy being typecast as a lesbian, says Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy)

Game of Thrones stars have a huge fan following across the globe. Their fans belong to different countries, communities, and sex. Such following also comes with responsibilities and our favorites stars seem to love it. Gemma Whelan a.k.a. Yara Greyjoy of Thrones too seems to be enjoying all the attention she is getting post the show’s run. Read on to find out more!

Speaking to gay star news, Whelan recently said that she has no problem being typecast as a lesbian. It is a trend which began with her kiss with a female character in Game of Thrones and has continued till the Shakesperean comedy The Upstart Crow. She said:

“Every single thing I do, there’s a lesbian touch to it. Long may I continue to be typecast, if that’s the way it goes.”

Whelan had spoken about her kiss with the character of Ellaria on Thrones being improvised one and said:

“It wasn’t directed that we would kiss, It just seemed like something we should do. We led it, very much so. It was meant to be a suggestion [of flirting] and then it became more sexual than we expected because it seemed right. There was only a skeleton crew working because the rig could only take so much weight, so we were left very much on our own. And who wouldn’t want to kiss Indira? I mean, come on!”
