George R.R Martin's tweet leads to speculation about the release date for The Winds of Winter
George R.R Martin built an unforgettable world through his words in A Song of Ice and Fire series, which has kept ardent fans on their toes awaiting the next in the saga. The last book in the ASOIF series came out six years ago and since then we’ve all been waiting for the next one, The Winds of Winter to finally grace bookshelves across the world. GRRM’s process does keep us counting the long minutes but he delivers masterpieces that no one has been able to get over.
Since the wait for TWOW has been so long, GRRM has been dropping some hints to let us know when it might come out, and the most recent one has gotten fans pretty hyped. In a recent tweet, GRRM posted a rather interesting picture and quote.
Alas, alas, that great city Valyria, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. pic.twitter.com/yMJVtCgPGF

Those of us fans who have a keen eye for detail spotted that this tweet is an adaption of quote from the Bible, replacing Babylon with Valyria. The quote is from Revelations 18:10, which lead many people to believe this as a clever clue that the book will be released on that date: October 18.
However, Martin has been pretty clear about the fact that TWOW won’t come out until 2018.“I am still working on it (Winds of Winter), I am still months away… I still have good days and bad days, and that’s all I care to say,” he had said in July.
So even if Martin might be done writing it, there’s a longer process of editing and publication which would make it impossible for the book to release this October. But, let’s not lose all hope. We are getting at least one book by Martin in 2018. The planned history of House Targaryen titled ‘Fire and Blood‘ is another detailed volume that Martin has been working on, and he says that one of these two books will be coming out next year.
“Whether Winds (of Winter) or the first volume of Fire and Blood will be the first to hit the bookstores is hard to say at this juncture, but I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018… and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream,” he said.
Of course book fans are a lot more excited about TWOW than Fire and Blood, mainly because most of us like to stay up to date on what’s going on in Westeros before we see it on television through Game of Thrones. Since this season has been pretty unpredictable because of the lack of books, fans would really be in favour of getting TWOW sooner. Our wishes might just be granted since Fire and Blood is scheduled to come out in late 2018 or early 2019. So all hope is not lost, book fans. Hopefully we’ll have some good material before season 8 of Game of Thrones begins.
