George R. R. Martin gives an update on the Game of Thrones spinoffs
Game of Thrones is currently preparing for its massive comeback to TV with the Season 7 premiere, which is set for 16th of July. As we try to deal with the fact that there will be only one season left after this one, we still have a glimmer of hope, because as you must already be knowing, a total of five spin-offs are are being considered and developed by HBO. While we don’t know much about what plot-lines they will be covering, and when they will be coming out with the shows, or any other detail, we do get small updates about it, and the latest one comes from George R. R. Martin, the creator of the Thrones universe himself. Read on!
In case you remember, the news first broke out saying there were four spin-0ff ideas under development, but George later clarified that there are actually five spin-offs that HBO is working on. As you know already, George mostly uses his Not A Blog to update fans on what he is doing. This time around, he chose to include the progress of the spin-off series, as well, but still without much of a detail. He typed :
“LOTS of things going on with television and film. Season 7 of GAME OF THRONES will be here on July 16 (and we’re doing a season 6 marathon at the JCC), the five successor shows are moving forward at various rates of speed, and we’re talking with UCP about not one, not two, but three possible Wild Cards series. And there are a couple other TV projects that I can’t tell you about… how much of this will come to pass, nobody knows. Ah, the joys of development…”
Well, Martin does appreciate Wild Cards, and we can tell that he is thrilled to be moving forward with it. However, he didn’t fail to mention the Game of Thrones spin-offs, so we will take his word for it, and hope that we get a spin-off not too long after the last season of Game of Thrones is to end.
