George R.R. Martin compares the art style of upcoming Game of Thrones animated spinoffs to ‘Love Death + Robots’
‘Tis the age of spinoffs! With every other show getting a spinoff of its own, how can Game of Thrones lag behind? Once hailed as the greatest TV show of the 21st century, George R. R. Martin’s fantasy series was the cash cow for HBO for nearly a decade, but they don’t want that story to be over just yet. Hence comes the series of spinoffs currently under development at HBO HQ, and we have little bits of information about each of them, including the most recently announced Jon Snow spinoff.
There are 8 Game of Thrones spinoff shows in development, out of which 4 are live-action, 3 are animated and the last one is a play on Broadway. Martin recently sat down to chat with The Hollywood Reporter, and talked about the upcoming offshoots currently at works. He praised the art style that has been shown to him for the animated shows, which he likens to the critically acclaimed Netflix anthology: Love Death + Robots.
“The animated shows are coming along great,” says Martin, while comparing the various animated styles to Netflix’s acclaimed Love Death + Robots. “The concept art is absolutely stunning.”
