George R. R. Martin announces non-profit foundation for film and television in Santa Fe
Game of Thrones is huge franchise and it owes most of its success to the creator of the Thrones universe, George R. R. Martin. The show is based on A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of books by George. While George is busy writing The Winds of Winter, which is the next book in the series, he seems to be doing other stuff, as well. His current venture is a new film project in Santa Fe, and it’s a non profit organisation!
Called theStagecoach Foundation, this organisation is equipped with a production facility, with access to not only major Hollywood productions, but also beginners, said a report by AlbuquerqueJournal. Santa Fe Mayor, Javier Gonzales tweeted about the project :

Talking about the project, Gonzalez said :
“What this means for the city specifically is more film infrastructure, that increases the likelihood that major film productions will come to town along with start-up movie-makers, film editors and digital media creators who need affordable production space. The Stagecoach Foundation facility could be used for a film crew’s headquarters as well as editing and other functions.
As a foundation and a non-profit, his (Martin’s) vision to make this facility accessible and affordable, so film and digital artists will have a space where they can go and create. The space should allow young film entrepreneurs to mix with some of the most seasoned people in Hollywood.”
We are glad to see Martin taking efforts to help out the little guy. The Stagecoach Foundation will first see the Coen broters, who will use the facilities for the filming of their new movie. This isn’t the first time George has done something for Santa Fe, too, which is where he himself lives. He made an art studio out of a abandoned school building, helped fetch contributions for “House of Eternal Return”, an immersive arts project by Meow Wolf, and owns the Jean Cocteau Cinema.
We hope George R. R. Martin is writing The Winds of Winter with the same amount of dedication! What do you think? Talk to us in the comments, below!
