2017 was a big year and it’s coming to an end now. As the year draws to a close, we’re in the time when the annual traditions kick in, and one of those is Twitter’s annual round-up of its trends of the year. A new report by Entertainment Weekly now has highlighted the results of this years trends round-up, and there is one conclusion that while very obvious, is still a matter of a small celebration for us fans : Game of Thrones was the most tweeted about show of the year 2017! Read on!
Game of Thrones was without doubt the most anticipated shows set to return in 2017, and fans had been tugging at its return for months, and when it finally did return, social media exploded with the talks of the spectacle that Season 7 was. It aired for only 7 weeks, but was the most tweeted about show of the entire year. There was a lot of subject matter, of course, with the season setting the stage for the big end. Here’s the top 10 list of the most talked about shows of 2017 :
Game of Thrones
Stranger Things
Big Brother
13 Reasons Why
Saturday Night Live
The Walking Dead
Grey’s Anatomy
The Voice
Supernatural
Pretty Little Liars
The list seems solid to us, give or take a couple. As far as the movies go, Wonder Woman topped the list, followed by La La Land, Dunkirk, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Justice League, It, Beauty and the Beast, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Fifty Shades Darker. Superhero movies are really stealing the thunder! As far as the standalone tweet with the most likes in 2017, Barack Obama took the cake :
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion…” pic.twitter.com/InZ58zkoAm
