Game of Thrones star Kit Harington thinks that Donald Trump is a con artist

Game of Thrones is a show of amazing fantasy, but there are some things which strike too close to reality. No, not the incest. We’re talking about the dirty politics. The dirty politics of Westeros and the constant grab for power has been often compared to the modern day rise of right-wing politics, and at the butt of all the covfefes, is U.S. president Donald Trump. Now, this isn’t the first time we are hearing of Donald Trump in the context of Game of Thrones. The creator of the Thrones universe, George R. R. Martin, thinks that Donald Trump is like a King Joffrey that never stopped being his angst-y teenage self.

The statements by George R. R. Martin were revealed in the latest Esquire interview with Kit Harington (Jon Snow), where he discussed a lot of things, including Donald Trump. Talking about him, Kit first said :

“Mr. Donald Trump — I wouldn’t call him President, I’ll call him Mister. I think this man at the head of your country is a con artist.”

However, did explain his stand, saying he believes that celebrities shouldn’t really get involved in political talk by themselves, too much. “I believe in experts,” he said, and wen’t on to explain that he found it :

“…annoying when Sean Penn decided to get involved in the Falklands. I was like, ‘It has nothing to do with you, Sean Penn. Fuck off.’ ”

George R.R. Martin also spoke along the same lines, but used an analogy that any Game of Thrones lover will find amusing. He said :

“I think Joffrey is now the king in America…,and he’s grown up just as petulant and irrational as he was when he was 13 in the books.”

Kit also compared the real life scenarios to Jon Snow’s attitude towards power, as seen on the show :

“Thrones can be used as a metaphor way too much, but if there’s one truth, I think, it’s that people who really desire power are the people who shouldn’t have it. Maybe Jon’s the one person who should have it, because he’s not looking for it.”
