We finally got the much-awaited second teaser of Game of Thrones this Sunday and hell yeah, we now have a proper release date this time – April 14. The teaser this time didn’t actually have the original footage from the season but just like ‘The Long Walk’ dropped for the last season had several clues and easter eggs for the coming season.

The footage according to James Hibbert from Entertainment Weekly was entirely a separately shot for the sole purpose of a teaser. It has been directed by David Nutter who has directed three episodes in the season and the music as usual by Ramin Djawadi. Now, let’s get to the key takeaways:

#1. Jon and Arya together after a long time

We haven’t seen Arya Stark and Jon Snow together for a long time and we finally have the confirmation of these two characters finally meeting after the first season. A few photos which were released by Entertainment Weekly the last season showed all the Starks together which didn’t come out to be true but since we know Jon and Daenerys are headed to Winterfell, these two will obviously meet.

#2. Feather falling off Lyanna Stark’s statue

Lyanna Stark – Jon Snow’s mother and her storyline are one of the key propelling factors in the key events of the entire series – was introduced in the pilot episode. When King Robert arrives at Winterfell, the first thing that he does is paying his tribute to his once betrothed. He places a feather in the hands of her statue in the crypts.  This feather is the same that falls off the statue and freezes in the end in the teaser. If you recall the fifth season, Sansa too picks up this feather and places it on the statue while she is at Winterfell ahead of marrying Ramsay.

#3. Catelyn’s Statue in the Crypts

We’ve been led to believe since the first season and book 1 that the crypts of Winterfell only has the statues of the Lords of Winterfell – Lyanna being an exception (many theories revolving around that!). But, in the teaser, we see Catelyn’s statue too. What does this mean?

#4. Reminiscing dialogues of the deceased

The first dialogue that we get in the teaser is of Lyanna Stark from the sixth season on her deathbed. “You have to protect him,” to which Jon turns around. I’m sure if Jon will learn about his heritage in the first episode or the last but one thing is certain, he will learn it from Bran and Sam this season.

Secondly, we hear Catelyn’s dialogue which she told Talisa Stark back in Season 3 as both her daughters Arya and Sansa pass by her statue. “All this horror that has come to my family, it’s all because I couldn’t love a motherless child.” Does this mean both of Catelyn’s daughters are adopting her traits?

Lastly, we hear Eddard Stark’s dialogue which he had said to Jon back in Season 1. “You are Stark. You might not have my name but you have my blood.” Jon Shares a look with Ned after the dialogue. All the three dialogues ultimately come back to Jon and his identity.

#5. The statues of Jon, Arya, and Sansa:

The three lastly see their own statues among the deceased much to their surprises when ultimately cold winds start rising in the Crypts – a signal of the Night King coming for the Starks. Spooky foreshadowing here – Winter is finally here and it’s here for everyone, nobody is safe – not even the Starks.

#6. Oh, did we miss out Bran?

So many questions after the teaser – one of them being where’s Bran Stark?  When we last saw him, he was near the Weirwood tree, being a witness of the Wall being breached with his CCTV warging abilities. But, jokes aside I feel Bran was deliberately dropped out of this teaser as maybe we’re getting another teaser soon with his point of view as he’s the archive to the immense knowledge now lost to the world.
