Game of Thrones season 7 ended with a shocking twist!
Warning! This article contains spoilers from the latest Game Of Thrones episode, The Dragon and the Wolf. The season 7 finale promised us an exiting episode which was almost 80 minutes long, making it the biggest Game Of Thrones episode till date and it delivered all the goods!
The episode was filled with some really exciting moments, as it began with a series of reunions in King’s Landing and then moved on to the scene at Winterfell, where Arya killed Littlefinger with the Valyrian Steel dagger. It turned out that Sansa was the one who was manipulating Littlefinger. We also got to see Jaime Lannister finding out about Cersei’s dirty plan and he finally couldn’t tolerate her any longer and left alone to join the Daenerys’ and Jon’s forces. The episode ended on a high note as we found out Jon Snow’s real name and got to see Rhaegar Targaryen for the first time and Jon had sex with Daenerys.
However, the showrunners weren’t yet done as they added a massive twist in the end when the White Walkers marched towards the Wall and the Night King rode on the zombie Viserion and took down the Wall! The season ended with the army of the dead finally crossing the Wall.
The Wall was built by Brandon the Builder, with the help of the Children of the Forest, who enchanted it with magic spells that prevented the dead from crossing it. However, in the previous episode Daenerys went past the Wall to save Jon Snow and company and ended up losing a dragon and that proved to be really costly as the Night King used the same dragon to bring down the Wall.
Everyone was wondering whether the zombie Viserion would spit ice beams or a blue flame and we got the answer as he blasted the Wall with his blue flame and brought down a portion of the Wall, which enabled the army of the dead to cross it. We do not know what happened to Tormund and Beric Dondarrion and I just hope that they somehow managed to survive the collapsing Wall and the wights that went past it.
During the inside the episode video, D.B. Weiss talked about the ending by saying, “The Wall’s kept these things out for 8000 years. There’s no real reason that it can’t keep doing that unless something puts a hole in the Wall.”
However, everything’s not lost as Bran managed to see the destruction of the Wall and he will make sure that Jon and Daenerys can be ready for the threat that’s advancing in their direction. The Night King might have a Dragon, but Daenerys has 2 of them and with the newly mined Dragonglass, the realm of the men might still have a chance against the White Walkers.
Game Of Thrones season 8 has only 6 episodes and it’s possible that it might release in 2019, instead of next year, but there has been no confirmation about it from HBO. What are your thoughts about the ending of season 7?
