Game of Thrones was infamous for killing off some of the best fan-favorite characters. These deaths helped to generate motive and a sense of revenge in the story. The show took a slightly different direction from George R. R. Martin’s novels, but did maintain his notorious uncertainty of who might die next. Even the actors were unaware of the story, and would never know if they are the next to be shoved off the set. Game of Thrones star John Bradley, who played Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) adorable chum Samwell Tarly, was so scared each time he got a new script, he used to open and read it with one eye open.

In a recent interview with Yahoo! News, Bradley recalled, “After being left so uncertain with Game of Thrones and every time a new script came through, looking at it with one eye open just in case you got killed…it’s nice to be able to see a character in one block and really get to know them quite intensively over a period of six weeks.”

Bradley also talked about House of The Dragon, and how excited he is to watch it, “I’m very very excited to watch it and not be worried that my scene’s next, not be worried that I’m going to ruin it for everybody, and I can just completely take a backseat and watch it the way everybody else used to watch Game of Thrones.”
