John Bradley (Sam) wants House of The Dragon to be good, but not better than Game of Thrones
Since its announcement back in 2019, House of The Dragon has been a hot topic of debate among various Game of Thrones and fantasy genre communities. Will it be as good as Game of Thrones? Will it stick to the lore? Would they ruin it like Game of Thrones Season 8? Are there any other spinoffs at work? A few of those questions have been answered in the past few weeks, such as when is the release date for House of The Dragon, and the cast of the original show have their own expectations with the prequel.
Game of Thrones star John Bradley, who played Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) closest buddy Samwell Tarly, is just as excited for the upcoming prequel show, even though he isn’t in it. On being asked about the comparison being made between Game of Thrones and House of The Dragon in a recent interview with Yahoo! News, he said, “I’m preparing myself for the completely unnecessary and unwarranted and unasked for comparisons that are bound to be made.”
“Some people saying they prefer it to our show, some people saying that our show was better than theirs, I don’t think that needs to happen but it’s bound to happen because people can’t resist that kind of thing. I’m just going to stay completely out of that discourse and just make my own opinions on it.”
“It’s part of an actor’s ego that we want it to be good and we want it to do well, because I’ve got lots of friends in it… but don’t be so good that everybody agrees that you’re better than us…”
“I’m very very excited to watch it and not be worried that my scene’s next, not be worried that I’m going to ruin it for everybody, and I can just completely take a backseat and watch it the way everybody else used to watch Game of Thrones.”
