Game of Thrones is coming back with the final season in April 2019, and all fans seem pretty excited but what happens when you give them spoilers for the new season ahead of airing schedule? Different fans react differently – which is exactly what’s happening on Reddit these days as some distressed fans react to #ForTheThrone campaign posters put up in New York City Grand Central Station.
Well, the promotions for the new season of Game of Thrones are on a peak with new cast interviews each week. And, HBO’s #ForTheThrone campaign which highlights important moments from the series is the most direct hint towards us being prepared for a big trailer release. But, the campaign also is spoiling the entire show for non-GOT viewers or the ones who’ve recently started watching it. Promotional posters have been put out in New York City Grand Central Station and some fans are totally distressed.
A fan wrote: “I kind of can’t believe they’re spoiling some of the main events from each season with these posters. Like I get that they’re mainly for show watchers that have seen it all already, but don’t you think they’d take into account the hundreds of thousands of people who will see these that haven’t seen the show yet? I guess it doesn’t really matter, it’s only a still and you’d learn nothing more unless you looked into it.”
Another wrote: “I have some good friends who are only in the first 2-4 seasons and loving it so far. This is really dumb by HBO. Could easily choose less spoilery pictures.”
A third wrote: “I agree, I’m appalled that they would ruin big scenes for new watchers. What a shame.”
Yet there still are fans who believe that HBO’s new campaign to prepare us for the new season is great and anxiously wait for more but, urge for the exact airing date.
One of them wrote: “What is HBO gaining by withholding the actual date from us? They must have settled on the date by now, what possible reason could they have for starting the hype train but not telling us when it will pull into the station?”
And, lastly, we await reactions from you? What are your thoughts on this promotional campaign of HBO? Tell us in the comments.
