Game of Thrones bags two Golden Globe nominations
Awards season is here! Game of Thrones, being one of the most popular TV series, ever, is no stranger to awards. Season 6 was remarkable, by itself, and thus it’s not surprising that we have been hearing of the show landing in award nominations for the same. Now, we have news that Game of Thrones has received two nominations for Golden Globe awards, which is one of the most prestigious brands of awards.
The nominations are in two categories. The first one is Best Television Series – Drama. Check out the full nominations for this award :
“The Crown”
“Game of Thrones”
“Stranger Things”
“This Is Us”
“Westworld”
The second category is Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. The nominees are as follows :
Olivia Colman – “The Night Manager”
Lena Headey – “Game Of Thrones”
Chrissy Metz – “This Is Us”
Mandy Moore – “This Is Us”
Kerry Washington – “Confirmation”
Both the categories have fierce competition, we’ll say. Game of Thrones is up against the Netflix newbies, The Crown and Stranger Things, as well as an HBO sibling, Westworld. All competitors seem equally good, but we have high hopes for Game of Thrones. As far as the second category is concerned, the Lena Headey did more than just fine, in Season 6, so we don’t see why she should not win this time.
The Golden Globe Awards are scheduled to air on Sunday, January 8 at 5-8 p.m, on NBC. The ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, who’s the host of the Tonight Show.
