Game of Thrones actor Pilou Asbaek reveals that Euron's most iconic line was almost cut from the show
Ever since Euron Greyjoy has made an appearance on Game of Throneshe hasn’t disappointed the fans. He’s done some ruthless deeds and made home as one of our favourite dark characters on the show. Actor Pilou Asbaek recently revealed on Radiotimes that one of Euron’s most iconic lines almost didn’t make it into the show. During his initially not so convincing speech to Cersei in episode 1 of season 7, Euron offered to bring her a gift, which he delivered upon in episode 3 by capturing Ellaria and Tyene Sand. But in the throne room scene, he dropped one of his most seriously iconic lines, which fans have heavily appreciated.
“Ever since I was a little boy, I wanted to grow up and marry the most beautiful woman in the world. So here I am, with a thousand ships… and two good hands,”were Euron’s words to Cersei in the presence of Jaime, which was enough to let the viewers know that he wasn’t here to play safe.
This line was almost cut off from the show, Asbaek revealed.
“The pages that we were supposed to shoot… he was much more broody, he was much more grrrrr,”he said. “And they took a lot of that out. And then when we were going to do the throne scene, Dan and David came up to me and said ‘we’re gonna take out this line’ and I said ‘which one of them?’ ‘And two good hands.’ And I just looked at them and I said ‘that is so wrong. It needs to go “here I am, with a thousand ships… and two good hands”. “It’s a great line! They wanted to take it out because they felt it was too much but it’s never too much if you can… it’s two really good hands!”
Fans are obviously glad that the line wasn’t finally taken out of the episode as it revealed a character trait of Euron, which is important to know exactly the kind of intentions he harbours and what he’s got in store for the plot and the viewers. We’re thankful to Pilou for not letting the show runners edit the line out since it did leave quite an impression on not just the viewers but also the characters Jaime and Cersei.
