Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen stands out as a complex character in the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. Her affection and concern for her children are among the many redeeming aspects of Emma D’Arcy’s portrayal. This is partly why the Season 1 finale of House of the Dragon was profoundly moving. In Season 2, her aunt Rhaenys believes her wrath will see no bounds, even overcoming Aemond and Vhagar if need be.

Rhaenys thinks Aemond should be wary of Rhaenyra

In the premiere episode of House of the Dragon Season 2, Daemon urges Rhaenys to get on Meleys and fly with him. He criticizes Rhaenyra for going alone to get Lucerys’ remains, feeling worried about Aemond attacking her. Rhaenys calms him down by saying, “Then I would pity Aemond.”
