Emma D’Arcy shares Rhaenyra’s plans for the war
House of the Dragon season 2 episode 7 has been a true eye-opener. After showing the Greens take all the advantage at the Battle of Rook’s Rest, Rhaenyra slowly proved her mettle. The Blacks are gaining momentum as Mysaria helps them get the support of the masses. Now, Jacaerys has helped Rhaenyra raise an army of dragons and their riders.
Rhaenyra is in a stronger position now than ever. In an interview with The Wrap, Emma D’Arcy shared,
“One of Rhaenyra’s core skills is this thinking outside of the box approach to problems, maybe because she doesn’t have the formal battle training that her male colleagues have. She has no option but to think laterally.”
Furthermore, D’Arcy spoke about the latest shift in power dynamics and the overall tension that was built by the recent episode. They added,
“She has so exceeded the Greens’ weaponry that maybe she’s expecting a surrender, certainly at the end of the episode … we see Aemond turn tail and fly away. We’ll see what happens in Episode 8, but for a moment, it feels like her political designs have paid off in a really complex way. In fact, as she has been espousing since the beginning of the series, an even bloodier war — an elongated conflict — might be avoided.”
For all the fans of Rhaenyra and the Blacks, it was a sight to behold when Aemond asked Vhagar to turn around. The biggest dragon in the realm and its rider are unwilling to go against Rhaenyra and her newly expanded weaponry. The finale episode of House of the Dragon season 2 is going to be epic as Rhaenyra takes her new dragons to war against the Greens.
