Ed Skrein talks being replaced by Rebel Moon co-star Michiel Huisman on Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones had a lot of underutilized characters. Among them, Daario Naharis is one who fans regret the most. First, the character, initially played by Ed Skrein, was mysteriously recast after Season 3.

And then, being played by Michiel Huisman, he never returned to Daenerys‘ side in the series after she left for Westeros. However, despite being replaced by Huisman, Skrein harbors no ill will towards his Rebel Moon co-star.

Ed Skrein loved spending time with Michiel Huisman

Many would assume actors might hold a grudge against those who replace them, but not Ed Skrein. In a recent interview with THR, the Deadpool star stated,

“We got on really well from the beginning, actually. It was really nice. Michiel is a good dude. He’s a really good dude, and I loved spending time with him on set. I also loved training with him in the gym and going on this press tour with him, so it’s been really nice. If I think of him as any character, it’s Gunnar from Rebel Moon.”

Ed Skrein says his recasting is one of the “dynamics of the job”

Recasting happens all the time in the film industry, and Skrein has accepted this as part of his job. He continued,

“I feel a kind of camaraderie and kinship with other actors, regardless of what roles they’ve taken or not taken. We understand the dynamics of our job and therefore can relate. And especially if we’re in the same cast, then it should be everyone’s preoccupation to just keep everything as positive and nice as possible. So that’s the way it goes. People will replace me in the future and I will replace other people in the future, and I’ll be a gentleman about it at all times. And I think Michiel will be, too.”
