The latest episode of House of the Dragon, titled “Regent,” delves into the repercussions of the dramatic events from the previous episode. The deaths of Meleys and Rhaenys have significantly disrupted the balance in the ongoing war. However, there’s also something going on with Daemon in Harrenhal, which is sparking a lot of fan theories, many related to Alys Rivers.

Is Alys Rivers a ghost or Daemon’s imagination?

House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5 gave a glimpse at Daemon’s mental health taking a dip as he confronts his own past in his dreams. In one particular scene after interacting with Alys, Simon Strong enters and looks confused to his side, as if wondering who Daemon is talking to. Alys then moves swiftly behind Simon, and appears to just vanish into thin air.

Fans think Alys might be an apparition

The latest stunt pulled off by House of the Dragon has caused frenzied discussions on social media, including Reddit and Twitter. Many were surprised to see Alys disappear like that. While some fans took it as a sign of her being a witch, others think she’s one of many ghosts of Harrenhal, or might be a figment of Daemon’s imagination. This would mean House of the Dragon is going for the good old Fight Club/Mr. Robot/The Boys plotline.
